Big things are happening in Dana Point Harbor, and if you’ve been anywhere near the marina lately, you’ve probably noticed the construction cranes, fresh infrastructure, and new buzz around town. The Dana Point Harbor Revitalization is more than just a facelift. It’s a total transformation that promises to re-shape life, leisure, and home values across Dana Point and the surrounding coastal communities.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Missy Wiesen, your Coastal Orange County real estate insider. I show you what it’s really like to live in The OC. Thinking about making a move or investing in Dana Point real estate? Call, text, or scan the QR code to book a quick Zoom with me.
What’s Actually Happening at Dana Point Harbor?
Let’s get into the details. The Dana Point Harbor Revitalization is a $600 million public-private partnership between the County of Orange and Dana Point Harbor Partners. It’s been underway since 2022 and will continue to roll out in phases over the coming years.
Marina Upgrades
The marina renovation kicked off in 2022 and has already made major progress:
As of July 1, 2025, the final phase of the West Basin Island is open, bringing approximately 1,115 brand-new slips online.
Phases 5 and 6 are complete. Phase 7 is underway, and Phase 7.1 (East Dock) is being demolished and rebuilt.
This is big news for boaters, but also great for homeowners who value a clean, vibrant waterfront.

Commercial Core & Public Access
The first two phases of the commercial core wrapped up in July 2025. That includes:
A new parking structure
Infrastructure improvements
A redesigned harbor entrance at Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive
Phase 3, which will redevelop the waterfront retail and restaurant spaces, is expected to begin later in 2025.
New Hotels
Two hotels are coming to the harbor:
Dana House: A luxury boutique hotel. Think Lido House in Newport Beach.
Surf Lodge: A more affordable, surf-inspired hotel
Both have cleared approval from the Coastal Commission and Dana Point Planning Commission. Construction announcements are expected soon.

Parks, Paseos, and Public Perks
The revitalization project isn’t just about commercial space and hotels. The plan includes:
New public green spaces and paseos
Better pedestrian access
Enhanced boater and visitor amenities
Upgraded utilities and landscaping
The new Golden Lantern entrance and expanded parking opened July 3, 2025, making it easier than ever for residents and visitors to access the harbor.

How Will This Impact Dana Point Home Values?
Dana Point is already one of the most desirable coastal cities in Orange County. But this revitalization will bring:
Better access and walkability
Upscale waterfront amenities
Increased foot traffic for local businesses
New energy and attention to an already coveted neighborhood
Translation: higher demand and stronger home values.
Buyers looking for lifestyle and long-term value are already watching the harbor area closely. And if you’re thinking about selling nearby? Now might be the right time to position your property for maximum exposure before the next phase of upgrades roll out.
Final Thoughts
The Dana Point Harbor Revitalization is no small update. It’s a multi-year transformation that will change how people live, shop, dine, boat, and relax in Dana Point. Whether you’re a longtime resident, a hopeful buyer, or someone curious about how these changes will affect home values, this is a development worth watching.
